China Moo-Young

China spent her teenage years at The National Youth Theatre, before studying Drama at Bristol University, where she graduated with a First Class Honours BA in film, theatre and television.

Before directing China was a creative researcher working at many of London’s top production companies. China then moved into creative research for advertising agencies sourcing inspirational images and film footage for successful new business pitches, as well as for award-winning campaigns for brands.


China has made many short films and also directed Sony Playstation’s cult game ‘The Getaway’. Her 2007 short ‘Juvenile’ gained official selection at International Film Festivals including Sundance and Berlin. In 2008 China directed 'Emo' a drama for Ch4’s New Talent Season and she was named a Star of Tomorrow in Screen International’s annual  review of British film talent.

China is also represented by Warp Films for Music Videos and Curtis Brown for Film & Television.
